According to the American Bar Association, a "Paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible".  Virtual Paralegals are independent contractors who provide legal services to law firms or solo practitioners through an online platform or communication system from a remote location (usually a home office).  Tasks such as E-filing, client contact, and document drafting are typical of a virtual paralegal.

Are Alternative Legal Services UPL? (i.e. unauthorized practice of law)

Are Alternative Legal Services UPL?
As a non-lawyer service, Amicus Alternative Legal Services can assist the general public in the preparation of certain legal documents and provide legal information without the use of an attorney.  This does not constitute Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL).  As it stands, the Florida Supreme Court has approved non-lawyers to assist the general public with the completion and filing of certain legal documents.
